Maysun Abu-Khdeir is a freelance photojournalist based in Barcelona, Spain. After a High Degree in Photography at the Huesca School of Arts, near Zaragoza, where she was born, in 2005 she moved to Barcelona to continue her studies. In 2007 she earned a Photojournalism Post-Degree at UAM (Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona). In 2008 she attended the course International Humanitarian Laws and Conflicts. Journalists in War by Red Cross, at the Mediterranea University and International Journalism Center of Catalonia (Barcelona). Meanwhile she was ending her studies and after, she travelled through countries like Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Kosovo and Italy. The interest of learning and her Palestinian roots made her realize the necessity to document her surroundings. She has been working about Palestinian identity on a 4 years project (still in progress), as a way to find her own identity and also as a moral responsibility. She has covered other subjects such as Kosovo Independence, the Lebanese issue and the situation of the people displaced by the earthquake of L'Aquila, Italy.

Maysun Abu-Khdeir è una fotografa free-lance residente a Barcellona, in Spagna. Dopo il diploma in Fotografia ottenuto alla Huesca School of Arts, vicino a Saragozza, dove è nata, nel 2005 si trasferisce a Barcellona, per proseguire gli studi. Nel 2007 termina il master in fotogiornalismo alla UAM (Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona) e, nel 2008, conclude il corso Diritto Internazionale Umanitario e Conflitti: i Giornalisti in Guerra, promosso dalla Croce Rossa presso l'Università Mediterranea, Centro Internazionale di Giornalismo della Catalogna (a Barcellona). Negli stessi anni, viaggia attraverso paesi come Palestina, Giordania, Egitto, Libano, Kosovo, Italia. L'interesse per l'apprendimento, l'amore per i viaggi e il suo desiderio di rendersi utile, la portano a maturare la necessità di documentare le situazioni che ha intorno. Le sue radici palestinesi la spingono ad affrontare un progetto di 4 anni (tutt'ora in corso) incentrato sull'identità palestinese: questo lavoro, già più volte esposto, sarà presto pubblicato in un libro. Tra gli altri soggetti dei suoi reportage, l'indipendenza del Kosovo, la questione libanese e la condizione degli sfollati in seguito al terremoto de L'Aquila, in Italia.

To exist is to resist

The most cited verse of the Palestinian slogan. A motto that is cited by man, woman, religious, heathen, elderly and by children barely at the age of 7 years who debate over politics as if they were 40. The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is not just any other conflict. It is not just another war. It deals with a conflict without precedence which is disgracefully lasting way too long. read more...
